Streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music operate as "walled gardens" that prioritize their algorithms over the financial health of creators.
Their "fraction-of-a-cent" payout models and "shared pool" royalty systems fundamentally devalue the work of songwriting, while their refusal to share listener data (the "Black Box" problem) makes it impossible for me to know who is listening.
By keeping my music off these platforms, I avoid the volatility of having my visibility wiped out by an algorithm change and ensure that the songs are valued as part of a unified, premium storytelling experience.
